"All aboard"! Ever wanted to have your own real life Polar Express experience? This historic mining town turns the local Durango & Silverton narrow gauge train into a Polar Express-inspired experience during December. Passengers are taken on a magical snowy ride along the Animas River through the surrounding mountains. Additinally, the train runs on weekends, taking passengers into the mountains to cut their own Christmas tree, then bring it back into town on the train, giving a time tranporting experience in the process.

Every year, local volunteers make elaborate gingerbread structures from scratch, The Gingerbread Village, and donate proceeds to local food banks. Red Wing, of course famous for the shoe brand, is also popular for their Christmas festivities. Their annual Holiday Red Wing Stroll kicks off the season the Friday after Thanksgiving, and is an all day event. Starting with a delicious pancake breakfast, the Red Wing Stroll festivities throughout the day include cute baby reindeer, live penguins, sleigh rides, and a beautiful live Nativity scene.

Newport Beach, California
We've all seen and enjoy a typical Christmas parade, but have you ever seen a parade on the water? Every year, the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade, consisting of over 100 boats ranging from a canoe to a yacht are decorated and covered in sparkling Christmas lights. The boats light up the 14 miles of Newport Harbor five nights in a row to give parade goers a greater opportunity to enjoy the show. Boat owners have been known to spend months decorating, and some upwards of fifty thousand dollars in decorating costs. Prizes are awared in multiple categories.
