How To Make Beautiful Nativity Scene Cookies

Few things are as perfectly part of the holidays as Christmas cookies. From making Christmas cookies with your loved ones to leaving them out for Santa to giving some to friends, coworkers, and family, there are plenty of great ways to enjoy your holiday cookies - even if you don't eat them. But one of the biggest challenges is just making the cookies. And one design worth thinking about is to use the nativity for your inspiration. Nativity scene cookies are a great way to showcase the spirit of the season, and making them could be a lot easier than you might think. With just a little effort you can create great looking cookies that are as beautiful as they are tasty.
  1. First, you'll need to get the right recipe. Find a recipe for cookies that you like. It can be sugar cookies, chocolate chip, or any other type of Christmas cookie you want to use. And of course, you can use more than one recipe if you prefer. But above all else, find a delicious recipe you'll have fun making.

  1. You can often find cookie cutters online that have plenty of great holiday themes. But a complete nativity scene may be tricky to track down. If you want, you can start off by ordering a couple of cookie cutters - or the whole set. Or, you can skip the cookie cutters altogether and use a different method we'll highlight next.

  1. If you have any artistic skill, take a few minutes to draw out a basic stencil. Create the shapes of a few nativity members. Alternatively, you can use online guides like the ones found here. Either way put a few rough shapes onto paper. They can't be too intricate, so just create a shape that will get the idea across.

  1. Now mix up the batter and roll out the cookie dough on a flat surface. If you have the cookie cutters, here's where you'll use them to cut out the cookies and put onto a cookie sheet. If you're using handmade stencils, your next step is to cut out the shapes you drew onto the paper. Now, lay them onto the rolled out, flattened cookie dough. Use a sharp knife or utility cutter and cut around the paper guide. Essentially, you're cutting out the cookie using your paper drawing as a stencil.

  1. Once you've cut out the cookies and put them onto the cookie sheet, all that's left to do is bake them! Give them some time once they come out of the oven, decorate them, and you'll have beautiful and delicious cookies that are themed in the style of the nativity.
These 5 simple steps are all you need to do in order to create beautiful nativity scene cookies. Once you do so, you'll be able to gift them, eat them, or leave a few behind at night for Santa. Either way, this simple method lets you create custom cookies the whole family will love.
